Francis K. (Frank) Ruotolo brings 50 years of operational and consulting experience to the Futures Strategy Group.
He began a 25-year retail career in 1960 on the Executive training program of Sears, Boston, and during 15 years with Sears was promoted seven times. In 1976 he joined Lord & Taylor as the Senior Vice President of Operations. At Lord & Taylor Frank reduced expense ratios and negotiated one of the country’s first give-back contracts with the Teamsters. In 1979 Frank was recruited by Macy’s as Senior Vice President for their West Coast division.
In 1986 Frank become an entrepreneur and independent management consultant. During this period he started a marketing company, produced a video on infant and child emergencies, and consulted in several industries, including materials handling, technology, manufacturing, office equipment and retailing.
In 1993 he was appointed to the Presidency of The Futures Group, predecessor to the Futures Strategy Group. In 1998 he negotiated a merger with Deloitte and became a Director in their San Francisco consulting practice.
In 2001 Frank became President/Chairman of a startup publicly traded company, Ants software, dedicated to developing a super-fast data base. In 2007 he replaced himself with an industry expert, remaining on the board of directors until April of 2012.
Having run the gamut from billion-dollar corporate boardrooms to sweeping the floor as a sole practitioner, Frank has developed a strong appreciation for the value delivered through the disciplined use of scenario planning and other forward-looking techniques in strategy development.
Frank graduated from Northeastern University in 1960 with a BA degree in English/Journalism.
