Fall 2016 Scenario Planning Update

Peter Kennedy
Managing Principal

Time flies when you’re busy – and distracted by the many strange and imponderable events of the year.  And now, suddenly, we’re in the fourth quarter of 2016 and reserving meeting and travel dates on our 2017 calendars.  How could that be?

FSG began the year winding down an intense scenario-planning engagement for a major US consumer products company and synthesizing the results of a December 2015 strategy workshop for the leadership of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

In the early summer, FSG held a three-day offsite to begin construction of a set of platform scenarios set in 2030 with a particular focus on consumer attitudes, lifestyles, and spending habits across those futures.  Work continues on these four scenarios, which eventually will be available for client customization and strategy workshop use.  Stay tuned for additional information or contact us to learn more.

Over the summer, FSG facilitated a scenario-planning training session for the Office of Personnel Management in Washington, DC and contributed to an executive workshop at Yale University for a firm in the consumer products arena.

Finally, FSG continues to support strategy expansion, refinement, and implementation, as well as organizational development work, for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).  We are currently planning a full schedule for 2017.

FSG is grateful not to be in the prediction business – a humbling enterprise if there ever was one, especially given the bizarre and unsettling events of this political year.  We say it all the time and will repeat it here:  Scenario planning has never been more challenging – or important.
